Jerrod Spriet has been named to serve as a Happy Canyon director
beginning in 2008. Spriet will be the new Grounds director, filling
the spot on the Happy Canyon board vacated by retiring director Jim
Naughton Jr. He was officially ratified by the Happy Canyon
stockholders during their annual meeting on January 14th.
Happy Canyon Publicity director Chris Cockburn says the Happy Canyon
Board is looking forward to his participation.
“We are very excited to have someone like Jerrod come on to our
board. He has volunteered for Happy Canyon and Round-Up for a number
of years, and has been actively involved in the community since he’s
lived here.”
Happy Canyon President Kevin Hale echoes Cockburn’s sentiments.
“We think Jerrod will be a real asset the the Happy Canyon board.
He’s a hard worker and is willing to do what it takes to ensure that
Happy Canyon remains successful.”
Spriet was born and raised in Baker City, Oregon and has been an
eastern Oregon resident his entire life. He credits his grandfather
with establishing a love for Happy Canyon and Round-Up as a
youngster. His volunteer experience with Happy Canyon includes
publicity, tickets, ushers, and programs, and concert stage set up
and tear down.
Jerrod is the Operations Manager for the Capps Broadcast Group,
which operates radio stations in Pendleton, La Grande and Baker
City, Oregon and Walla Walla and Tri-Cities, Washington. Nicknamed “JJ,”
he does a morning radio show on News/Talk 1290 KUMA in Pendleton and
is also an advertising sales person, along with handling some radio
engineering work. He has also assisted Happy Canyon and Round-Up
publicity directors as a media specialist for the past 5 years.
Jerrod lives in Pendleton with his wife Terri, and daughters Shelby
and Samantha.
All other current directors retained their respective positions on
the Happy Canyon board.
Happy Canyon Co., Inc. is a non-profit community corporation
governed by a 12-member board of directors. Hundreds of volunteers
produce the annual Happy Canyon Night Show each evening after the
Pendleton Round-Up. The Night Show is held in the 4,230 seat Happy
Canyon Arena. After the Night Show each evening, Happy Canyon also
hosts dancing and social gaming in the Pendleton Convention Center
facility. Happy Canyon Co., Inc. also, in conjunction with the
