Nichols, a four-time Grammy nominee will perform Saturday, Sept. 6th at the Happy Canyon Arena in Pendleton, Ore. The annual concert is the opening of the week-long activities of the world famous Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon. Nichols is one of the hottest country music performers today, and has won every new artist award available in the field of country music: the prestigious Horizon Award from the Country Music Association, Top New Male Vocalist from the Academy of Country Music, and Country Music Television's Breakthrough Video of the Year. "From playing singing live, I've learned that when I look at people's faces when I'm singing, what touches them most -- what gets them to lean forward rather than lean back -- is when you show personality," says Nichols. “It's just that I'm telling a story, speaking from experiences that I know very, very well…and I love it." One of the fastest rising stars of country music will open for Nichols at the Round-Up and Happy Canyon concert…Jason Michael Carroll. Billboard Magazine and Radio and Records magazine both boasted Carroll as the top new country artist of 2007. His biggest hits to date, “Livin’ Our Love Song” and “Alyssa Lies” both hit the top 5 on the country charts in 2007. Happy Canyon Director Chris Cockburn thinks that this is going to be one of the best concerts ever in the Happy Canyon Arena. “When we feature a headliner like Joe Nichols, along with a strong opening act like Jason Michael Carroll, we feel like we are really going to have a lot of happy fans at the end of this show, and that’s what we’re all about,” he said.
